So... what happened?

 You know, at some point I need to get better at ruglar posts, in fact I think that's going to be my goal for 2026 (Yes I know we're 1/4 of the way through already). Weekly posts here. More than anything, I want to get regular reps in on content and working.  So as a quick update, it's currently Bird season here in Fredericksburg VA. What does that mean? Around mid-late March begins the annual shad/herring migration. The shad and herring bring with them the birds that make them lunch (and breakfast, and dinner). So, from now until about the start of May will be prime bird photography at the river.  As a full-time production director at my church (and Easter always falling in this season) there is always the challenge of losing days of shooting during this season, but more than worth it, in the eternal perspective. 

A welcome is in order I suppose.

 Hello, and welcome to Behind the lens.  My name is Matthew Furukawa and I'm the photographer... behind the lens as it were.  I was encouraged by a friend to document my journey as I'm trying to grow as a wildlife photographer. My goal is to become good enough to be considered a professional wildlife photographer, having said that, I don't have any intention of quitting my day job, (more in the about me section).
